Vermont travel hawala gov to waive taxes for travelers
Vermont, California— The City of Vermont will waive taxes on travel from Hawaii for citizens who plan to spend at least $500 in Hawaii during the month of January.
Travelers will be allowed to bring their own hotel rooms, and the City will pay for the hotel room at the cost of a $250 hotel surcharge.
The surcharge will be waived for residents and nonresidents who purchase their travel through the city’s Travel Waiver Program.
The surcharge is expected to bring in $4.4 million a year in revenue, according to the City of San Francisco.
The city has been offering this travel surcharge since the year 2000.
This new surcharge was designed to encourage the state to fund a $10 billion project to improve transportation and air quality in the state.
